DIY Hair Mask

2016-11-21

A couple days ago we did a trial run of our hair styling for the final show and I realized that my hair definitely needed some TLC (tender loving care) again. My older sister is a big believer in natural products, so I looked around my kitchen and decided to just to make a Do-It-Yourself hair mask with eggs, coconut oil and honey.

Eggs are good for conditioning the hair since they contain lots of protein, coconut oil is rich in antioxidants (including lauric acid which can penetrate the hair shaft leaving the overall health of the hair improved), and finally honey is considered 'food for hair'. Honey, as we know contains a high sugar content - so it acts as an humectant, retaining moisture in the hair shaft and follicles!

I used:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp of coconut oil
  • 2 tsp of raw organic honey

I left the mask on for 20 minutes under a shower cap, it definitely smelt funny...maybe next time I'd add a drop of essential oil or something. Afterwards I shampooed and conditioned thoroughly, making sure to get the mixture out!
